Hey there ! I'm Shannon.
Im a wife, a mom to boy / girl twins, a daughter, a sister and a friend. That's me above in a very serious, very artsy self portrait. (not my normal state by any means!) I came to this profession kind of late in life. It started when I had my twins, I became consumed by documenting every moment because I learned really early in their lives how fleeting each moment was.
This obsession with capturing those precious moments lead me to photography. I received a DSLR as a gift from my Dad and I dove in head first learning everything I could about my camera, light, capturing emotion, and "the decisive moment". I was 100% in love and couldn't get knowledge into my brain fast enough! After figuring out the photography stuff, I learned to edit and the love affair continued. I had found my passion, the thing that kept me up at night thinking about how I wanted to know more, do more and figure out more. It has been so exciting and so fulfilling. I learn something new pretty much everyday. It keeps me on my toes and totally engaged. After listening to that little voice inside me egging me on to start a business doing what I love for the past few years, I finally decided to take the plunge. So here I am.
When you book a photo shoot with me, you can expect to have fun ! We are our most beautiful when we are relaxed and comfortable. or with the people we love. The most authentic and memorable photos come from the moments when we're not expecting our picture to be taken, when we're just being ourselves. The giggles, the way you look at your family, the way they look at you; these moments are what it’s all about.
I strive to get to know the families and people I photograph so here are a few silly facts about me. I don't drink coffee, I don't like the taste. I'm a tea girl (black with lots of cream please!) My favorite food in the whole world is tomatoes. I eat them almost every single day. My second favorite food is ice cream. Sadly, I do not eat ice cream almost every single day. If I was on a deserted island and could only bring one item, it would be lip balm, I'm obsessed with lip balm, I am very fickle with my favorite brand, its constantly changing ! I'm left handed and so are both of my kiddos. I'm part of the affectionately named & made up "covered wagon club": that is, people who came to the West Coast after growing up in the Midwest. We're a friendly, happy go lucky lot! I'm an organizer, a doer and a participator. My guilty pleasure is reality TV (shhh, let's keep that between us.) I am not a camper, if anything I’d be a "glamper", I love the fall and the winter - I love snow. We don’t have a pet, but my kids and I are currently in the throes of a campaign, lobbying my husband to let one join the family. My passion is tennis, I can’t get enough, I love learning and practicing and am very driven to get better (Serena, watch your back!) I love spin class (when and if I make it there) I spend an inordinate amount of time carting kids around to activities. I know you fellow mamas out there know, the juggle of family life is real! Lastly, I love champagne, it makes every occasion feel like a party.
