What to wear to for senior photos in Seattle
What to wear to your senior photos IN SEATTLE
Choosing what to wear for your senior photos in Seattle is an important part of prepping for your session. It’s also a really fun part of the process! Think about who you are and how you want to represent yourself in your photos. Maybe add your parents to the conversation, they may have good thoughts to offer. Most importantly, prep early so you keep it stress free!
How many outfits should I bring to my senior session?
This is the most frequent question I get! In general, we will have time for up to 3 outfits. Many of my seniors bring 1 or 2 casual outfits, and a more professional outfit or a dress. If you know it by the time you get your senior photos taken, you can bring some swag from your future school.
Don’t forget, jewelry and other accessories and shoes are a great way to finish your look!
Casual outfits are a great reflection of who you are right now.
Casual outfits are something you feel most like yourself in. Some examples might be a tank and jeans, hoodies, or a favorite tee. Do you have a signature look? Bring it!
Consider adding a professional outfit option for future interviews or your linked in page.
Some of my seniors want to take advantage of our time together by bringing a more professional look to their session. This is a great idea if you want something that will work for your LinkedIn page or to use for resumes or interviewing in the future. Suits, blouses or professional dresses are timeless options.
Think about the location where we are shooting and plan your outfits accordingly.
You want to stand out in your photos, not blend. A good example of this thought process might be, if we are shooting your senior photos in the woods, you’d probably want to avoid dark greens and browns. A better option might be jewel tones, interesting textures or even neutrals so you’ll pop off the background.
Prep your outfits and accessories in advance to keep your stress levels low!
I know you are BUSY but my best advice is to get your outfits together sooner than later before your session. Emergency shopping trips rarely produce the perfect outfit and I want this to be a fun process for you!
If you are shopping in your closet for your outfits, make sure your choices don’t have stains or tears and fit you well. Fit is important. Avoid really loose shapeless garments, they don’t read well in photos. Look for balance in your choices. Part of prepping should be to try on your fits, checking that you can move around easily in them, including being able to sit down.
Bring everything pressed and ready to go. Garment bags or tote bags packed to travel will come with us as we move from location to location, changing on the go.
When we work together, I will send you guide that has even more details & ideas on what to wear for your senior photos in Seattle and beyond.
Figuring out the looks you’re going for and pulling everything together in advance will keep the process stress free. Planning your session is part of the fun.
I am here to help so send me pics of what you’re thinking about. I love working with seniors, and I can’t wait to be your senior photographer!
