wardrobe information
You do not have to go out and buy new outfits. Look in your closet to see what you have already that you love.
You are also receiving a separate link of a Pinterest page with lots of wardrobe and color inspiration. Check it out to get some ideas.
The level of festive that you want to achieve is entirely up to you. We will be using either a white or dark navy couch for our session, and have various wall colors etc.
Make sure that each of the outfits your family chooses are comfortable and make them feel good. Confidence and comfort in your wardrobe choice will translate into radiant, beautiful images.
Patterns shouldn’t be too big or busy. (Unless you’re going for a theme, like holiday jammies, or ugly Christmas sweaters, then by all means, go big or go home.)
Textures look gorgeous in portraits. Think nubby sweaters, faux fur, leather, metals, denim or lace. Metallics in small doses can be really fun too.
Your aim is to coordinate with your family not match.
Pick a color palate of similar tones like blues, or complementary tones like golds, burgundy and grey or blue. Mix and match textures, patterns and solids for a great cohesive look.
Accessories are fun and add a ton of visual interest to your images. Lightweight textured or patterned scarves, signature jewelry, hats, belts and vests all look fantastic.
Dresses, skirts and pantsuits or jumpers are a beautiful way to add variety. Wrap or faux wrap dresses flatter universally as do A-line skirts and jackets belted at the waist.
Remember shoes are part of the outfit too!
Stick with the classics, they stand the test of time. You can never go wrong with simple, classic pieces.
Make sure your clothes fit your shape well, not too baggy, not too tight.
Try on your fashions before you make your final decision, move around, sit, stand, walk, jump in the outfit you choose. Make sure things stay put and that you aren’t having to tug at things to keep things in position. Make sure when you sit down skirts don’t ride up too high. Check for tears, stains and missing buttons etc.
Taking the time to think through your outfits before your session really does pay off. If you are comfortable in your clothing, you’ll look great in your photos.
